At Birkenhead School we offer Systems and Control Technology with the Welsh Joint Education Committee.
The course is assessed with an exam equal to 40% and coursework equal to 60%.
Written Papers (Paper 1 and Paper 2): 40% (2 Hours in total)
Paper 1 10% (30 minutes)
This common paper consists of three questions which address the Key Stage 4 Programme of Study. The questions are designed to be accessible to candidates from all six focus areas.
Paper 2 30% (1hour 30 minutes)
This will consist of six separate papers with questions in each paper relating to one of the six focus areas. Candidates answer only one of these papers. Each has a consistent format of five questions, the fifth being a design question worth 25% of the marks for this paper.
Coursework 60% (approximately 40 hours)
This involves one integrated design and make project, of approximately forty hours' duration, based on one or more of the six focus areas.
