Our Curriculum -
At Key
Stage 3 we follow a carrousel system within the department and students swap
between a Resistant
Materials course and an Electronics course following each
area of the curriculum for half of the school year. We
have 2 main assessments
during each year which are combined with homework marks and lesson assessment
to
compile detailed grade orders and reports.
At Key
Stage 4 we offer a GCSE in Design and Technology:Control Systems with the WJEC
which mixes
Product
Design with Electronics. In Year 10 our students start by covering detailed work
topics that focus on
the individual specification
criteria and then, during the last term they begin preparation work for the
coursework
element of their GCSE. During Year 11 students continue with their
coursework project until the Easter break
and on their return the syllabus is
covered for a second time and lessons also incorporate detailed preparation
for
the 2 exams that will follow.
At AS
and A2 we offer Product Design or Electronics both with the AQA. If you click on
our AS/A2 about us
section you can see a breakdown of the requirements.
