Name: Alasdair Bell
Major Project Situation: Design and manufacture a prototype climbing wall
that is transportable and can be used for home training, promotional venues and
climbing competitions.
Major Project Outcome: Alasdair approached his project from a
mathematical and engineering point of view. After much careful calculation he
arrived at a Geodesic Dome shape that took inspiration from the Eden Project and
other forms of cutting edge architecture. Due to the size of the project
Alasdair decided to make 1 main panel and 1 hub assembly and then use
detailed CAD to show the final dome in detail.
Career Hopes and Aspirations: Alasdair secured a place at Cambridge
University to study Mechanical Engineering.
